Soon enough, the weather will start to warm up, and we will want to spend as much of time outside as possible. And, while you can head down to the beach or your local park, most of us spend the majority of the summer, relaxing in our own back gardens.
But what if your garden isn’t a place that you relish spending time in? If your garden is far from a summer retreat, don’t worry, there is still plenty of time to fix it up.
To help you create a beautiful summer garden that you can be proud of, we have put together some handy tips below. For more information, have a read of this.
Come up with some ideas
Don’t just go straight into it, sit down and think about what you would like to do with your garden. Do you have any particular ideas you would like to incorporate into the design? It is important to think about what you want from the space.
Perhaps you have a small garden and want to make the most of the space that you have? Or maybe your garden is an odd shape, and you need some inspiration? Perhaps you garden is rather large and has left you feeling a little overwhelmed? Think about what you need to do to turn your garden into a space that you love. Refresh your garden
Don’t just write off the things you already have in your garden, think about ways you can refresh and renew them. For example, if you have a patio area in your yard, use a pressure washer to remove any dirt that may have built up over the winter. This will make your patio look much newer than it actually is – if done correctly, pressure washing can make your patio look brand new.
If you have any wood in your garden, like a deck for example, or wooden furniture, repaint or re-seal it to freshen it up and ensure that moisture can not get into it.
Bring your plants and lawn back to life
If the cold weather has had negative effects on your flower beds and lawn, it is important to find ways to bring them back to life.
You grass feeder to get your grass looking green again, remove weeds from your flower beds and trim any overgrown plants or shrubs. Make sure to put weed killer around your plants and shrubs to prevent any weeds from returning. If you have pets, or your neighbours have pets, make sure to opt for an animal-friendly weed killer.
To add colour to your yard, add hanging baskets and trellis and plant them up with lots of bright and beautiful summer plants. If you aren’t a big gardener, you can always buy the hanging baskets pre-planted from a local garden centre.
If you want somewhere to kick back and relax in the warmer summer months, then you need somewhere comfortable.
For a relaxing area that you can chill out in, transform your patio or deck into a comfortable area. Invest in some outdoor furniture and outdoor cushions that you can spend time sunbathing and relaxing on.
